REPUBLICAN MODERATES IN ACTION!

(Washington, DC) – Today the Republicans Who Care, a 527 organization, released a new television ad in Oregon, revealing the truth about U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley’s record of raising taxes.  “Jeff Merkley has voted to raise taxes 44 times,” said Sarah Chamberlain Resnick, a spokesperson for Republicans Who Care.  “With Oregon families facing tough economic times, they deserve to know the truth about Jeff Merkley’s record.”

The ad, which begins airing state wide today – and runs through Election Day, spotlights Merkley’s vote for the largest tax increase in Oregon history.  The ad also draws attention to Merkley’s votes for higher gas taxes, higher property taxes and even to raise taxes on families earning as little as $10,000 a year.  “Jeff Merkley hasn’t met a tax increase he didn’t like,” continued Resnick.  “Instead of fighting to lower taxes on the hard working men and women of Oregon, Merkley has consistently fought to raise taxes.”

“Oregon families are already struggling to make ends meet in this troubled economy – the last thing they need is politicians like Jeff Merkley raising their taxes,” concluded Resnick.

“Higher Taxes”

The last time Oregon families faced difficult economic times, Jeff Merkley had a solution.

Higher Taxes.

Merkley actually voted for higher taxes 44 times.  That’s right 44 times.

In fact, Jeff Merkley even voted for the largest tax increase in Oregon history.

Merkley even voted for higher gas taxes and higher property taxes.

Worst of all, Merkley voted for higher income taxes on families earning more than 10,000 a year.

Call Jeff Merkley tell him to change.  Higher taxes in a bad economy is just plain wrong for Oregon families.
